Charles Franklin Moffat, Sr., 85, of Saxton, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born in Carbon Twp., PA on January 5, 1932, a son of the late Sarah J. (Carberry) and Thomas C. Moffat.
He was united in marriage to R. Joanne Moffat in Winchester, VA. on February 7, 1955 which produced a 61-year marriage. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2017.
He was a jack of all trades; a farmer, a heavy equipment operator, a coal miner, a foreman, and a mechanic. Several of the many companies he worked for over the years included Concrete General Construction, Brauner Construction, and Brode Lumber. He was also a past owner of the Midway Hotel and Bar for over 30 years.
He was the first male lifetime member of the Auxiliary for VFW Post 4129, the oldest lifetime member of the Saxton Sportsmen Assn., an associate member of the Broad Top American Legion Post 126, and a member of the Little Valley Sportsman Assn.
He always had a smile on his face and was always fixing something. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved drinking beer, country music and dancing. In his younger days, he drove dirt track racecar and enjoyed the local race circuit. He was well loved by people in the community. After complete retirement, he mowed the lawns of family and neighbors with the help of his nephew and best buddy, Tom Moffat Jr.
Surviving are three daughters, Robin, wife of  Donald Ramper, of Wood, PA; Laurie “Annie”, wife of  Chuck Baker, of Sharpsburg, MD; Evelyn Aretta, wife of  Lawrence Burns, of Leavenworth, KS; 
a son,Charles F. Jr., husband of  Lavon Moffat, of Pittsburgh, PA; Grandaughters, Magda, Keenya, Jo, Amelia, grandsons, Michael, Benjamin, Ryne, Charlie, Jacob; great granddaughters, Katherine, Victoria, Sophia, Willow, great grandson, Hunter, great great grandaughter, Aubreigh; great great grandson, William; a sister, Betty J., widow of  Gene Fleck, of Coatesville, PA and a brother, Owen, widower of  Cleo Moffat, of Malvern, PA; 
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers Thomas and Clyde Moffat, three sisters, Beatrice Whitfield, Violet Stairs, and Helen Oswald, two sons, Carl Allen Moffat and Allison "Alli" Moffat, as well as an infant girl, Evonne Moffat.
Funeral Service will be held at Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc., Broad Top City, PA, at 1 PM on Thursday, August 3rd.  Friends will be received from 11 AM until the time of service. Interment at Langdondale Cemetery, Hopewell, PA. 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. P.O. Box 214 Broad Top City, PA 16621 to assist family with final expenses.

My thoughts and Prayers are with the family. I have known Chuck and Jo for a lot of years, very special people.. lots of fawn memories... funny situations... and lots of love.. May God be with all of you, always.. Amen

Condolences on your fathers passing, God proved once again he only takes the very best.we will all miss his smile but never forget all the good times. Prayers for all.
