Glenn Deweese “Fibber” Rinehart, 90, of Broad Top City, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 10, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Born in Broad Top City on January 22, 1930, a son of the late Hazel (Brown) and Harry Rinehart Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Martha (Jones) Rinehart, daughters, Patty, wife of Tim Maslanik, Vickie, wife of David Lashinsky, grandchildren, Julie, wife of Cameron Kendrick, Betsy, wife of Patrick Snyder, Nichole, wife of Sam Carberry, Trevor Lashinsky, husband of Erin, Carrie, wife of Greg Strayer, great grandchildren, Brent Kendrick, Breana Kendrick and fiancée Steven Niebaugher, Matthew Parks, Alex Snyder, Brittany, wife of Cody Greenawalt, Dalton Carberry, husband of Cori, Katylin and Austin Lashinsky, Lucas, Cooper, and Reagan Strayer, great great grandchildren, Parker and Layne Greenawalt, Bentlee and Carsyn Carberry, and a sister, Ella Ruth Black.
Also surviving, Keith Stevenson who was reared in the Rinehart home and a very special friend, Randy Lucas.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Wayne, Bobby, and Harry, and sisters, Betty Swope, Dixie Heaton, and Judy DeLuca.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict gaining the rank of Corporal and receiving the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Korean Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Korean Unit Citation, Combat Medic Badge and Expert Rifleman Badge.
He was a member of the Broad Top City Church of God where he served as a Sunday School Teacher. He also held memberships in the Watson and Black Post #126 American Legion and the Purple Heart Association.
He loved spending time with his family and his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. In his earlier years he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors in his garden, hunting or fishing. He always had a smile and a joke for everyone. He also loved to play his lottery tickets and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 12 Noon at the Broad Top City Church of God with Neil Stevenson officiating, assisted by Pastor Ron Wilson. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City, PA.
Those in attendance will be required to follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC, The State of Pennsylvania, and the Church regarding the Covid-19 Pandemic.
