Verna “Vera” (Pawuk) Poleck, 87, of Wood, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Homewood at Martinsburg following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Wood, Pa on November 30, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Wasyl and Rosie (Trohanowsky) Pawuk.
On March 3, 1951 in Wood, she was united in marriage to Peter P. Poleck who preceded her in death on June 5, 2003.
She was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Wood and was a 1947 graduate of Robertsdale High School. She had been employed at Claudia Footwear and later J&P Furniture both in Wood. She loved doing her yard work, baking, cooking, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but most of all she dearly loved her family.
Surviving are a son David D. Poleck and wife Cathy, a daughter, Sharon T. Miller and husband Gregory, grandchildren, Christina Mykut, Jason Miller and Patrick Miller, Mark Brumbaugh, great grandchildren, Matthew and Parker Mykut, Estelle and Reese Miller, Maddison, Victoria, and Jacob Brumbaugh, Sisters, Helen Rosensteel, Della Morgan, Lovely Tenley, Janie Davis, and Anna Spencer, and a brother Paul Pawuk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Wasco, sister Tillie, and a grandson Matthew Brumbaugh.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Wood at 10 AM with Father Thomas Klein officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday October 12, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. where a brief service will be held at 7:30 PM.
Interment will take place in the St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery in Wood
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Vera’s Memory to the St Michael’s Orthodox Church in Wood, PA. 16694.

A. Vera was very special to us. We will miss her but God called her home to be with him and the rest of her family that is already there in Heaven. Enteral memory for her soul. Love her. ((Hugs)) to the family from all of us and our family.
