Maxine E. Mellott, 91, of Six Mie Run, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born in Six Mile Run on September 27, 1929, a daughter of the late Matthew M. and Mary M. (Skipper) Fleegle.
She was a 1948 graduate of Saxton Liberty High School and then became the wife of Orison E. Mellott Jr. who made his career in the U.S. Air Force in which they were stationed at several bases throughout the country. Mr. Mellott preceded her in death on May 1st, 1994.
While stationed at Craig Air Force base in Alabama, she worked as the manager of the nursery, and also after high school worked at the Bedford Springs.
She enjoyed caring for her pets and animals, watching westerns on TV, and was an accomplished avid bowler, and was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Gail Chamberlain, wife of Steven, of Six Mile Run, sons, David Mellott and companion, Lois Fisher, of McConnellstown, Mathew Mellott, husband of Michelle, of Six Mile Run, grandchildren, Beth, Betsy, Robert, Laura, Mathew, Michael, Mason, as well as numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Tessier, a daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Mellott, and a brother, Matthew Fleegle.
At the request of the deceased, no viewing will take place. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11 AM with Pastor Suzanne Detterline officiating at the Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the Bedford County Humane Society or to Mom’s Pets.

So sorry to hear of Maxine’s passing. She was a wonderful woman and always had such a nice smile and loved to laugh. Sorry I will not be able to attend the service, but know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
