Alan R. Morningstar, 76, of James Creek, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Penn Highlands Hospital, Huntingdon.
Born at his homeplace in Entriken on March 27, 1945, a son of the late Dewey and Grace (Stone) Morningstar.
On June 4, 1965 in Hagerstown, MD he was united in marriage to Lucille (Jones) Morningstar who survives at their home.
He was a 1963 graduate of Huntingdon High School and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.
He worked for Sprint telephone as a service technician retiring after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Woodcock Valley Bible Church where he served as treasurer, superintendent, trustee and taught Sunday School.
He was a member of the Marklesburg Vol. Fire Co. and enjoyed farming and Massey-Harris Tractors.
Along with his wife, he is survived by children, Troy, husband of Connie Morningstar, Lisa Morningstar, and Adam, husband of Gretchen, sisters-in-law, Donna Morningstar, Pat Morningstar Ritz, Barbara Morningstar, Janice Morningstar, and Brother-in-law, Earl Runk. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tanya, wife of Logan Brown, Clint, husband of Ashley Morningstar, Brooke, wife of Jordan Shope, Luke, Ben, Danielle, Cody Daniel, Douglas, Lily, Henry, and Daisy Morningstar, as well as great grandchildren, Roselynn, Ella, and Sadie. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family being preceded in death by the following siblings, Flora, Eugene, Clyde, Wayne, Irene, Verna, John, George, Merle, Roy, and Dean, and a grandson, Buddy.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Woodcock Valley Bible Church at 11 AM with pastors, Barry Yingling and George “Buddy” Baird officiating.
Friends will be received Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 6-8 PM at the church and again on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place in the Entriken Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
