Beatrice Taylor Obituary

Beatrice Iona Taylor, age 88, of Six Mile Run, passed away November 8th, 2022 at the Allegheny Lutheran Home.  Born August 7, 1934, she was the daughter of Stanley and Myrtle Wright.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Ronald (Peggy)Wright and Stanley Wright and by her sisters Jean (Rankin) Souders and Dorcas (Willard) Cypher.

She was the beloved wife of her late husband, Richard; cherished mother of two children, daughter Suzy (Taylor) Kirkham and her husband Korry; son, Richard Lee Taylor and his wife Beth; proud grandmother of two grandsons, Kolby Duane and Kaden Grant Kirkham, whom she cherished and loved; and cherished sister of four brothers Robert (Jennie) Wright, Tom (Debbie) Wright, Jerry (Priscilla) Wright, and Joe (Debbie) Wright; two sisters Edith Wineland and Maryann (Henry) Meetze; a sister in law Shirley Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beatrice became the mother figure to her siblings at the young age of 14 after the passing of her mother. With love and tenacity, she devoted her life to making sure her family was well taken care of .

On August 8th 1964, she and late husband Richard met and later married. They celebrated 55 years of a loving and dedicated marriage prior to Richard’s death in 2019.

Beatrice became a mother at the age of 37 when she and Richard adopted a 14 month old little girl.  Little did they know that God would bring a newborn baby boy into their home four years later - a phone call that made their family complete.

Beatrice could be found in the kitchen, always ready to make a meal and break bread with any who entered her home.  Anyone who ate one of her meals became an instant fan of her cooking and had a least one or two favorites they always looked forward to. She loved gardening, and that love and labor were her secret ingredient that made everything taste better – and her recipes so hard to duplicate!

Beatrice was a member of the Kearney Union Church for almost 40 years. She loved her church family and missed being able to attend in her later years.  She would sit nightly and read her bible, praying for all to know Jesus.  She loved her visits with her family at the Lutheran Home and enjoyed every moment spent with them on their daily visits.  She was surrounded by so many who loved and admired her.

Beatrice lived her life as a true example of a Christian Servant, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend.

Beatrice's family would like to thank the staff of the Allegheny Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg and Grane Hospice for the care and compassion they showed her.
