C. Blaine "Hotdog" Horton, 75, of wood, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
Born in Huntingdon, PA on June 16, 1949, a son of the late Myron Waldo and Leona Mae (Shore) Horton.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Jo (Pawuk) Horton who survives at their home. Also surviving are son, Steven Horton, husband of Michelle, daughter, Taunya, wife of Josh Creasey, daughter-in-law Sherry Horton, grandchildren, Tre' Horton husband of Savannah, Alexis wife of Craig Tostenson, Madison Frazer, Hailey wife of Jose Verde, Malena Horton, Max Horton, and Noah Horton, great granddaughters, Penelope Verde, Rive' Horton, Evangeline Verde, and a sister, J. Rosalind Cessna.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Horton, and a sister, Marnie Fields.
He was a 1967 graduate of Mount Union High School and then the Thompson Institute in Harrisburg and then served in the Navy from 1968-1972 during the Vietnam Era as a CRT. He was a retiree of Letterkenny Army Depot and had also worked as a coalminer and a budget planner for the company Budget Plan.
He was instrumental in forming the Tussey Mountain Football Booster Club and building the Tussey Mountain Sports Complex in 3 months. He was inducted into the Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. He also was the manager of Chalkley Little League in Richmond Va in 1976, Manager and coach for Wood Little League 1977-1986, Manager for Broad Top Little League All Stars, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1985, Manager for Whips Mens Softball Team 1977-1982, President of the Broad Top Mt. Softball League 1979-1981, Secretary/Treasurer for the Broad Top Mt. Softball League and Waterfall Softball League, Vice President of the TM Baseball Booster Club 1986, and President of the Tussey MT. Football Booster Club 1983-2003.
He was a member of the Reality Church of God in Robertsdale, a member of the R.W.&BT Vol Fire Co, member of the former Robertsdale Lions Club, member of the American Legion Post 126 in Broad Top, and was the President of the of the Citizens Community Association of Wood 1996-2023.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 2 PM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. Broad Top City with Pastor Jeff Musser officiating, friends will be received from 12:30 PM until the time of service.
Interment will take place in the St. Michael's Orthodox Cemetery with mill military honors by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the R.W.&BT Vol Fire Co, or Tussey Mt. Football Booster Club, or The Reality Church of God, or St. Michaels Orthodox Church.
