Cary G. "Joe" Thomas, 72, of Saxton, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Wellspan York Hospital.
Born in Roaring Spring on June 23, 1952, a son of the late Robert Thomas and Delores (Williams) Thomas who survives at home.
He was a 1970 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and enjoyed hunting, dirt track racing, and woodworking, and was a member of the Saxton Sportsmans Association.
On July 24, 1971 he was united in marriage to Rose Mary "Peanut" (Smith) Thomas at the Robertsdale Church of God. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2016.
He worked at ACCO/Meadwestveco for over 25 years and previously in the coal mines for 13 years.
Along with his mother he is survived by a daughter Cassie Thomas and fiancée Tony Platts of York, granddaughters, Katiana and Lyllyan, who were the light of his life, brother, Robert Thomas of Saxton, Brother Lon Thomas, husband of Patty of Roaring Spring, and a sister, Susan Statler, wife of Kevin of Woodbury.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. from 6-8 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11 AM also at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Musser officiating.
Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City.
