Charles Marlin Taylor, 84, of Six Mile Run, passed away to his eternal home on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Maybrook Hills, rehab and nursing home in Altoona, PA.
Born on July 12, 1939 in Six Mile Run, Pa, a son of the late Grant and Sarah (Smith) Taylor.
On February 27, 1965 he was united in marriage to Hazel Marie Taylor, who survives at their home in Six Mile Run.
He is survived by his daughter Lori C. Taylor, Six Mile Run, his granddaughter, Jessica McNemar, Six Mile Run, his grandson, Daniel Taylor, Six Mile Run, his great granddaughters, Mattalee and Makailee McNemar. They were the joy and love of his life. Also his brother Raymond husband of Donna, Six Mile Run, and sister Sally Scalari, wife of George, Port Chester, NY, as well as nephews and nieces. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Marvin and a sister Shirley.
He was of the Protestant Faith and was a member of the Six Mile Run American Legion, Post 556.
He served in the U.S. Navy for two years and then worked various jobs until December of 1964 when he went to work for the Department of Transportation of New York, where he worked for thirty years. He and his family moved back to Six Mile Run in October of 1994. He was a kind, gentle, and loving person. Always willing to help anyone, even in the middle of the night. He was a man you could trust, if he said he would do something, you could count on it. He loved his family and was always there for them, doing whatever he could. His two great granddaughters brought him much joy and happiness. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 1 PM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. a visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service from 11AM-1PM also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run, PA. where military honors will be provided by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Six Mile Run American Legion to go towards their new honor roll.
