Dennis W. Runk

Dennis William Runk was born on April 12, 1958 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. He lost his battle with cancer on July 1, 2024. Dennis was only 66 years of age. He graduated from Tussey Mountain High School in 1976. 

Dennis is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Shari (Barton) Runk; daughter, Stacy Woomer and husband Danny; daughter, Kayla Simms and companion Samuel Nesbit; granddaughter, Elaina Woomer; 3 grandsons, Daniel Woomer, Drew Woomer, and Hank Simms; siblings Susie Berzansky and husband Steve; Duane Runk and wife Pam along with several nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Freda Runk.

Dennis worked for DW Miller, Reese, Pennline, and Northeast Service until 2002, when his father passed he continued the family excavating business. Dennis had a passion for his excavating business and loved working for the public. He lived his life to the fullest by enjoying the simple pleasures of life; spending time with his friends in the garage, listening to George Strait, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling to Gettysburg with his wife, Shari and lifelong friends Bonnie & Clair Horton, attending countless concerts, and messing around with his close friend, Kenny Sipes. When working, Dennis was usually accompanied by Robert Dubetz or Tanner Manspeaker. They both helped Dennis tremendously, and they created lasting bonds that will be remembered for many years to come. When in good health, Dennis regularly attended Trough Creek Valley Community Church. Anyone that has ever interacted with Dennis will always remember his kindness and his love for Christ. He had a deep love for his wife, family, friends, and anyone that crossed his path. Dennis was a wonderful man and he will be greatly missed by everyone around him. 

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and July 4, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Trough Creek Valley Community Church. A memorial service will be held on July 4, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
