Everett Eugene Miller Jr., 95, of Saxton, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the home of his daughter and caregiver, Darla.
Born in Belsano, PA on January 2, 1926, a son of the late Everett R and Lillian Mae (Goldberg) Miller.
On February 14, 1947 in Hagerstown, Md, he was united in marriage to Mariam S. (Bair) Miller. Mrs. Miller preceded him in death on April 21, 2006.
He was one of five brothers who were in WWII in which they all came home, serving from 1943-1946. He was also in the 100th Division Germany Honor Guard for General Patton.
He worked in the carpenters union local #1419 from 1956 to 2006, receiving a special gold watch to commemorate his 50 years of service. He also had been a coalminer in various mines around the Broad Top.
His interest include; Church, helping others, reading his Bible, seek-a-word puzzles, going to the senior citizens center, sitting on the porch feeding the squirrels, listening to gospel and bluegrass music, Peggy’s Kitchen community meals, talking with his friends, Mr. Zimmerman, and Jim Horton. A major achievement in his life was following a major surgery, he recovered to go hunting in which he was able to harvest a deer. He also overcame two bouts of radiation to his face to be able to ring the bell to be cancer free. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are daughters, Darla, wife of Harold Germaux of Saxton, Janice widow of Steve Wakefield of Saxton, sons, Larry Miller, husband of Delores of Daytona Beach, FL, Kevin Miller, husband of Barb of Saxton, and Bill Banks of Altoona. Also surviving are the following grandchildren, Steve, Michael, Frank and Brooke Miller, Brad Germaux, Crystal Stetchock, Josh Wakefield, and Charles Banks, great grandchildren, Steven, Franklin, Mason, Brittany and Amber Miller, Nathaniel and Daniel Stetchock, Sage and Evan Germaux, Riley and Patrick Wakefield, Elijah Cogan, and Victoria Suter, great great grandchildren, Rhett, and Reece Everett Miller,  Brayden, Jaxon, and Payton Cogan, Kailey, Kyler, and Lilly Coffman, and Elliot Suter. As well as a sister-in-law, Betty Miller of Baltimore, MD.
The last survivng member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Norman, Glenn, Harold, Wayne, and Blaine.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Oasis of Love Church in the Valley at 11 AM with Pastor Kathy Speck officiating.
At the request of the deceased, no viewing will take place, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will take place in the Langdondale Cemetery, Hopewell, PA.
Those in attendance will be asked to follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC, State of Pennsylvanina, and the Church regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Family Hospice for the care they gave their father, and the friends for their prayers and support.
