George Ronald Horton, 85, of Broad Top City, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at his home.
Born in Everett, Pa on October 20, 1936, a son of the late Edgar C. and Edythe (Whited) Horton.
On June 7, 1959 in Winchester Va. he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Linda L. (Black) Horton who survives at their home.
Along with his wife he is survived by a son, Ronald D. Horton and companion Tracie, a daughter, Janet E. Hoover and companion Craig, grandsons, Ronald C. Horton and companion Courtney, and Colt M. Hoover, great-grandchildren, Kameron, Karlee, Laney, Kolbie, and Lexie, a brother, James E. Horton, a sister, Alice L. Smeigh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded him in death were his parents, a grandson, R. Colby Horton, His twin brother, John D. Horton, and a sister, Janelle Frank.
A graduate of Robertsdale High School and then automotive training in Williamsport, he became an auto mechanic and co-owner of Horton’s Garage in Broad Top City.
He was a member of the Broad Top City United Methodist Church, the former I.O.O.F in Broad Top City, the R.W.&BT Vol. Fire Co. and the Broad Top City Water Authority.
During his life he enjoyed boating, hunting, camping, working in the yard, helping others, and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11 AM with Tom McGhee officiating at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc.
Friends will be received on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home and again on Friday one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City following the funeral service.
