James R. “Jim” Barton, 63, of 10th Street, Saxton, had sadly passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh due to a brain injury from a fall. Born on August 12, 1957 in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Fred and Katherine "Strait" Barton.
Surviving is a half brother, Lewis Strait and wife Helen, of Virginia, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim is very missed by his cousin, and best friend, Sandi, and children, Christian, Brandon and Kyli. We were all very blessed to have him in our lives. Jim, without saying, will never be forgotten by his beloved pet, "Dozer", who was like a son to him, as well as "Cinder", who was his best buddy.
Along with Jim’s parents, he was preceded in death by two baby siblings, a brother, Larry Joe Barton, and a brother, Fred Barton.
Over the course of Jim’s life, he was a hard worker. Over the years, he had not only been employed by Sheetz Distribution Center in Claysburg, but as an independent contractor in carpentry and renovation, a timber mill employee, and at the early age of 13, a farming employee as well.
Jim was an avid member of the Saxton VFW Post 4129, and enjoyed playing on their pool league for several years. He also enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, nature walks, and talking with his many friends and acquaintances.
Jim had a heart of gold when it came to caring and helping out others. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether he knew them personally, or were a were a total stranger. Jim’s giving heart did not end even in death, as he was an organ donor. He wished to help others in need, through hopes of giving renewed life to many, through CORE (Center for Organ Recovery and Education).
Jim was of the Protestant Faith and always enjoyed speaking of his faith to his best friend as well as to many others.
Due to the nature of Jim’s passing, as well as the current restrictions in regards to the Covid-19 outbreak, sadly there could not be a public viewing held. During Jim's last wishes, he requested Cremation and was under the direction of the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. in Broad Top City, PA.
In lieu of flowers and memorial contributions, donations to help with Jim’s final arrangements can be made to the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. 5010 Railroad Ave. Broad Top City, PA. 16621.
