James "Sleepy" Defibaugh, 71, of James Creek, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Conemaugh Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, PA.
Born in Huntingdon on December 3, 1951, a son of the late Paul and Laura Mae (Rinard) Defibaugh.
He was a 1971 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and Stevens Trade School in 1973. He then retired from Penn DOT working as an operator. He was a life member of the Saxton Vol. Fire Co. and loved hunting and fishing.
On June 30, 2001 at the VFW Field in Saxton, he was united in marriage to Sharon (Fouse) Defibaugh who survives him at their home.
Also surviving are brothers, Larry Defibaugh of Martinsburg, Kenneth Defibaugh of Pittsburgh, sisters, Mary Soders of Mt. Union, Kathy Worthy of Maryland, and Sallie Bathavic of Shippensburg, a sister-in-law, Vicki Defibaugh of Chambersburg, step-sons, Eric Gill, husband of Fern of Duncansville, Nathan Gill, husband of Lori of Homer City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Trudy and Brenda, a sister, Bonnie Sue Defibaugh, brothers, Paul Thomas Defibaugh, Stanley A. Defibaugh, and Duane Lee Defibaugh Sr.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses.
