John Wesley Houck Jr., 85, of Six Mile Run, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at his home.
Born on July 29, 1933 in Wood, he was a son of the late John Wesley Sr. and Rachel Alice (Gates) Houck.
He was united in marriage to Judith L. (Shaffern) Houck who survives at home.
He was a retired laborer who had worked for Crawford’s movie theater, Bob Foster, Coopers Lumber, H.J. Williams, and was the town policeman for Coaldale Boro.
His enjoyment in life included caring for the elderly, working with wood, eating Reese Cups and drinking Coke.
He attended the Wood school, the Riddlesburg Bible Church and the Safe Harbor House of Healing. And was a US Navy Veteran.
Along with his wife he is survived by a daughter, Evelyn A. Melius, wife of Gary, Chambersburg, sons, Wesley C. Houck, husband of Amanda, Texas, Timothy J. Houck, husband of Lisa, Matthew P. Houck, husband of Jayme, and Michael P. Houck, husband of Tracey, all of Six Mile Run. numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Brantner of Saxton. A special niece who was raised in the home, Jessica Wall Wright of Graceville also survives.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Wesley Houck III, daughter Sandra Lee Foor, grandchildren, Malinda Foor and Rachel Houck, sisters, Sylvia, Ethel, Geraldine, Goldy, Ora, Eva, Gloria, Shirley, and brothers, Howard, Martin, and James.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Riddlesburg Bible Church at 2 PM with Pastor Lisa Houck officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service
Interment will take place in the Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run, PA. 16679
