Joyce Hess Obituary
Joyce A. (Cook) Hess, 78, of Coalmont, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born in Broad Top City on July 8, 1940, a daughter of the late James S. and Bertha (Black) Cook.
In 1960 she was united in marriage to Richard F. Hess at the Saxton First Church of God. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2008.
She was a 1959 graduate of Saxton Liberty High School and had worked at Acme Market in NJ and at Quality Manufacturing in Saxton. She attended the Saxton Church of God and enjoyed computers and television.
Surviving is a sister, Joan (Cook) Brumbaugh, a sister-in-law, Esther (Hess) Keith, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Hinis and Janice Cook, a brother, Jimmy Cook, and brother-in-laws, Andy Hinis, Kermit “Cork” Brumbaugh, and John D. Hess, as well as a neice, a nephew and two great nephews.
It was the request of the deceased that no services be held.
Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City.
In Lieu of flowers it was requested by the deceased that memorial contributions be made to the Saxton Vol Fire Co. Ambulance Division, 504 8th St. Saxton, PA. 16678.
