With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a beloved and remarkable soul, Kathryn Jean Keith Ozelski. She passed away on June 10, 2024, at the age of 67 after a 6 month battle with cancer. Kate left behind a legacy of stubborn determination, boundless kindness, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her. Kate was born on June 3, 1957 in Bedford, PA to Jean Bussard Keith and Bill Keith. She graduated from Tussey Mountain High School in 1975, and later went on to graduate from Shippensburg University. She worked various jobs but mostly as a TSS at elementary schools in the area. She enjoyed the job and felt she related to the kids as she was pretty ornery and stubborn herself. Even though she stood 4’6”, she often joked she was “6 feet tall and bulletproof”. Kate was a force to be reckoned with and never let her short stature get in the way of the things she wanted to accomplish. It was a rite of passage when one of the nieces and nephews would pass her up on the growth chart. She took it all in stride, after all she could dish it out just as well as she could take it. Her stubbornness was legendary, a testament to her unwavering resolve to live life on her own terms. Beneath that fierce exterior lay a heart of gold, with a generous and compassionate spirit. She always put others' needs above her own and went the extra mile whenever she could. She loved to tell stories and was a gifted writer. She enjoyed meeting new people and loved her family unconditionally. She never had children of her own but she showered her many pets with love, affection and treats. Kate enjoyed an active and happy life with her husband in Canonsburg. She was precious to her family and will be sorely missed. Kate is survived by her husband Bob Ozelski of Canonsburg, PA, brother Tim (Leigh) Keith of Oklahoma, brother Dan (Kim) Keith of Saxton, sister Susan Keith of Martinsburg and sister Cindy Petri (Mike) of South Dakota, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also surviving, sister-in-law Lynn Morton (Jerry), Bob’s children Eric and Alisha. Kate was preceded in death by her parents Jean Dixon and Bill Keith, her brother Billy Keith, and brother-in-law Butch Neuder. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29th at 11:00 am at Curtis Heath Funeral Home, Broad Top, PA. If you have a special memory or story, we invite you to share it with us at that time.
