Obituary

Kayla Dawn Kalfas, 24, of Hopewell, 24, passed away on January 3, 2023 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cumberland, Md. On July 19, 1998 a daughter of Matthew Kalfas of Everett and Dawn (Conley) Kalfas of Hopewell.
She was a 2016 graduate of Tussey Mt. High School where she was the Salutatorian of her class. Following graduation she attended Mount Aloysius College for nursing where she was on the Dean’s List. She was a brilliant soul who fought cancer for 5 years with grace and beauty. She was grateful for the ones in her life and loved them dearly and felt that you don’t have to be blood to be family. Having many lifelong childhood friends, Courtney Clark and she became especially close with Karlelle Young.  She will be dearly missed by many, with her kind soul and beautiful personality, she always tried to keep a smile on her face and make others laugh. She always kept the hope that she would be able to visit Europe again.
Along with her parents, she is survived by beloved best friend and support dog Katie, Brothers, Matthew Lee Kalfas, husband of Ashlyn, Brett Allen Kalfas, and Nicholas Alexander Kalfas, A nephew Christopher James Kalfas, nieces, Nova Conley, and Queenie Young, whom she loved being Auntie Kay to, Paternal grandmother, Ada Loretta Long, Maternal grandfather, Charles Michael Conley, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Precededing her in death were, Paternal Grandfather, Christopher John Kalfas, Paternal Step-Grandfather, Roy D. Long, Maternal Grandmother, Mary Margaret (Heath) Ford, and Maternal Step-Grandfather, Roy G. Ford.
Friends will be received on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 1-2 PM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. with a funeral service immediately following at 2 PM with Pastor Mary Garvey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. P.O. Box 214, Broad Top City, PA. 16621 to assist the family with final expenses.
