Lana Brumbaugh, 70, of Saxton, passed away at her home peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
Born at her home in Puttstown, PA on September 14, 1953, a daughter of the late Gerald "Tug" and Katherine Mercedes (Luther) Sherlock.
Lana was a longtime member of Raven Run Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was involved in many other activities at the church. When her illness kept her from attending church, she still wanted to be able to contribute in some way, so she set up the prayer call system and was responsible for managing the system and making the church prayer calls from home for many years. Lana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin and was loved by all. She was a quiet and gentle person, noted for her ever present smile. She had a very positive attitude and despite the limitations of her illness, when asked how she was, her reply was always “Grateful” After her illness, she started every day by thanking God for giving her another day. Her life was centered around her family and she enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family. Lana spent many years researching the histories of the Luther, Sherlock, and Brumbaugh families. She shared her findings with many family members. Through her family research, she found an unknown cousin and was able to reunite him with his father’s family. She especially enjoyed attending family reunions and playing dominoes with family members.
On January 22, 1972, she was united in marriage to Jerry Brumbaugh at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren in Saxton. Mr. Brumbaugh survives at their home. She worked as an administrative assistant/secretary for many years.
She is also survived by a son, Paul Brumbaugh, husband of Anita, a daughter, Susan Baker, wife of Mike, grandchildren, Skyler Baker, Whitney Watkins, Kelsey Reichard, Alex Brumbaugh, great granddaughter, Brinley Reichard, sisters, Sharon Kowalski and Beth Clough.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marilee Karinshak and a brother, Fred Sherlock.
