Mary Gracey Obituary

Mary Jane (Diehl) Gracey, 82, of Six Mile Run (Round Knob), PA entered the gates of heaven on June 20, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born in West Providence Twp, Bedford County, PA on March 4, 1940 to Roy and Virginia (Stanley) Diehl. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Gracey on February 21, 1964 who preceded her in death on September 7, 2021.

They were blessed with three children, Stacy (Stailey, Gracey), wife of Michael Snyder of Everett, Barbara, wife of Joseph Yablonski of Six Mile Run, and Steven Gracey, husband of Kathy of Bedford.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Andrew, Jacob, and David, six great grandchildren, Jackson, Jett, Joseph, Blake, Eva, and Shepherd, sisters, Dorothy Martin of Saxton, PA, Donna, wife of Charlie Steach of Northfield, OH, Joanne, wife of Walter Jenkins of Six Mile Run, PA, Connie Monty of Riddlesburg, PA, and sister-in-law, Cindy Diehl also of Riddlesburg, PA

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Diehl, a daughter-in-law, Georgia (McCabe) Gracey, and a grand daughter-in-law, Deidre (Westwood) Snyder.

Mary Jane was a graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School, class of 1958. She held various jobs in her lifetime including working as a secretary at Tussey Mt. High School, homemaker while raising her children, and a cleaner and aide for the Tussey Mt. School District until her retirement.

She was a faithful member of the Round Knob Church of God. For many years she served as Council Secretary and Sunday School Secretary. Being the historian that she was, and a proud member of her Church, Mary Jane also wrote a history of the Round Knob Church from its inception to the present Pastor- a span of 115 years.

Mary Jane was very talented. Genealogy was one of her greatest hobbies. She was the family historian. Family connections were very important to her. She looked forward every month to meeting her sisters for their “Sister’s Supper”, her class of ’58 luncheon and her “cousin’s luncheon”. Her other hobbies included gardening, especially her flowers, painting (rocks, saws, chairs), reading, and puzzles.

She was undoubtedly an important figure in our lives, and likely the lives of others.
