Max E. Sheeder, 82, of Waterfall, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born in Huntingdon County on December 13, 1942, a son of the late Willard and Lilian (Houck) Sheeder.
On May 13, 1967, at the Robertsdale Church of God, he was united in marriage to Violet M. "Sally" (Jones) Sheeder. Mrs. Sheeder preceded him in death on December 30, 2020.
He was a 1962 graduate of Forbes Road High School, and a member of the New Grenada Church of God, as well as the United Steelworkers Union.
He had worked in the coalmines and then for Hempt Bros. Construction as an operator.
Surviving are daughters, Sherrie Stains, wife of Dale of Three Springs, and Heather Cornell, wife of Michael of Bedford, sons, John Sheeder, husband of Cathy of Todd, Max Sheeder Jr., husband of Michele of Three Springs, and Bradley Sheeder, husband of Jessica of Mt. Union.
Also surviving are two sisters, Peggy Swope and Dixie Plessinger both of Needmore, as well as 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Kania.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the New Grenada Church of God in Waterfall, Pa. with Pastor Ken Cornelius officiating at 2 PM. Friends will be received two hours prior to the funeral service from 12-2 PM also at the church.
Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City, PA.
