Michael Taylor, 81, of Silver Springs, MD, raised in Broad Top City, passed away on August 24, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born July 28, 1943 in Broad Top City, a son of the late Irvin and Evelyn (Ross) Taylor. he was married to Mary Gardner on April 5, 1969 in Chelsea Old Church in London England, she preceded him in death on February 13, 2024.
Surviving are two daughters, Tracie Taylor Goodridge, and Debra Taylor, as well as 5 grandchildren, Ayla Bridges, Elsie O'Day, Liliana O'Day, Trip Goodridge, and Matt Goodridge. Also surviving are a sister, Barbara Lucas and brother Bobby Taylor. Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Taylor.
He was a graduate of Robertsdale High School and also the University of Maryland. He was employed by the C.I.A. in Washington D.C. for 45 years and then for an outside contractor for an additional 5 years.
He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He also enjoyed listening to live music and watching football. Church and faith were very important to him. He loved vacationing with his grandchildren. His favorite thing to do was spend quality time with his family, especially if it included a good home cooked meal. He was dedicated to his wife and children, he would do anything for them.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday November 3, 2024 at the Broad Top City Church of God at 3 PM.
