Nina I. (Taylor) Dixon Smith
December 13, 1940 – July 8, 2025
Nina I. (Taylor) Dixon Smith, age 85, of Riddlesburg, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Nina was born on December 13, 1940, in Six Mile Run, Pa., the daughter of the late Eugene T. and Gladys L. (Kelly) Taylor. Nina married Ronald L. Dixon on July 1, 1957, and lived for many years in the hamlet of North Point outside of Six Mile Run. She later married Franklin D. Smith also from Six Mile Run.
Nina is survived by her husband Frank, her daughter Lucinda D. Grove of Olathe, Kans., and her son R. Gregory Dixon and wife Christine A. (Barnett) of Riddlesburg. She has the following grandchildren: Ryan G. Dixon and wife Emily of Six Mile Run; Rick L. Dixon and wife Kylynne of Fort Littleton, Pa.; Brian R. Hann and wife Bethany of Hopewell, Pa.; Nicolas “Nick” C. Dixon and wife Alicia of Riddlesburg and York, Pa.; and Renee M. Fischer and husband Matthew of Waterfall, Pa. She has 9 great grandchildren.
She is survived by the following siblings: Leah V. Strait of Riddlesburg, Pa.; Helen E. Kylor of McConnellsburg; Pa., Dennis E. Taylor of Carlisle, Pa. and Michael Taylor of Duncannon, Pa.
She is preceded in death by parents Eugene and Gladys Taylor as well as by six siblings: Lucille C. Brennan, Thomas C. Taylor, Gerald “Gerry” N. Taylor, William H. “Bill” Taylor, Andrew L. “Andy” Taylor, Debra A. Benninghove and great grandson Dakota “Kota” C. Dixon (son of Nick and Alicia).
Nina was a homemaker, an accomplished seamstress and a great cook and baker. She worked at Saxton Manufacturing, Fairfoot Shoe, Martinsburg, Pa., and in later years was a traveling home health aide. She was devoted to her large extended family and many friends and enjoyed making and gifting quilts and all sorts of other hand-made items. She will be sorely missed by her many friends and her large and loving extended family.
