Ralph R. Altobelli, 88, of Saxton, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born on Dudley, PA on December 7, 1936, a son of the late Umberto and Clara (Yanni) Altobelli.
He was the husband of Helen (Jenkins) Altobelli who preceded him in death on May 28, 2015.
He is survived by a son, Michael Altobelli and special daughter in law Janet, sisters, Laura wife of Thomas Worthing, and Clara Mae "Cookie" Reich, a brother Gene Altobelli, grandson, Michael Altobelli Jr, husband of Rachel, granddaughter, Adrian wife of Conner Kagarise, grandson, Nathaniel Altobelli and companion Olivia, a special granddaughter, Christina Altobelli. Also surviving is a special friend, Donnie Miller who was like a son.
Along with his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Chesney and Christina Stewart.
He was a 1954 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School and later a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course. He was first employed at Saxton Bottling Company for 13 years as a driver and salesman, then as a sales agent for Prudential for 8 years, and last he worked for New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company for almost 30 years as a truck driver in the concrete division, retiring in 2003.
He was a lifetime member of the Saxton Vol. Fire Co. joining in 1955. He was very active in the building committee and held several positions such as president for 3 years, assistant chief, and secretary. He also was involved with helping with Sunday dinners and was on the Bingo Committee. He was awarded the Fireman of the Year in 1977. Ralph was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church where he was very active. He was a past member of the Parish Council, the Parish Finance Council, Parish Choir, was on the Bingo Committee and helped form the Food Pantry.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. from 6-8 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley at 11 AM with Father Mark Reid officiating.
Interment will take place in the Ave Maria Cemetery, Dudley, PA.
