Richard Bock, 96, of Somerset, passed away on December 31, 2019 at In Touch Hospice in Somerset.
Born on May 26, 1923 in Robertsdale, he was a son of the late William and Jennie (Neuder) Bock.
He was united in marriage to Vincenza (DiMarzo) Bock on July 4, 1948. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2017.
Surviving are a son, Richard W. Bock and companion Barbara, of Edgewater NJ, a daughter, Lois Hinis and husband Ed, of Somerset, grandchildren, Karla Hinis of Ellwood City, and Tiesha Fay Mann of Indiana. Also surviving are a sister, Martha Zinobile of Orbisonia, and brothers, William Bock and Elwood Bock both of Robertsdale and Frank Bock of Weehawkin, NJ. Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother Clyde Bock.
During his life he worked as a welder in an auto body shop and enjoyed raising racing pigeons which he did since childhood. He lso enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and hunting.
He was a veteran of the United States Army in which he landed on Normandy on D-Day for the Battle of the Bulge. Upon discharge he received Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. at 11:30 Am with Pastor Jeff Musser officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Broad Top City I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
