Richard John Wright

Richard John Wright, age 88, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on August 12, 2020 at home.  He was born on April 8, 1932 in Enola to the late Arthur and Virgie (Yingst) Wright.

Richard was a loving husband, father, and devoted grandfather. He retired as an Electrical Engineer from Bell Telephone. After retirement he worked for PA Dept. of Revenue. Richard was a US Navy veteran; he received the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill, the American Legion, and Telephone Pioneers. Richard loved hunting, sports, especially Penn State football, card games and board games with whomever would play. He enjoyed going on Phillies excursions with his son and grandsons. Richard was an avid bowler, walker, and Weather Channel fan. His handyman skills were appreciated by family and friends alike.  

Richard was survived by his loving wife of 64 years Margaret (Lucas) Wright; two children, Richard J. Wright, Jr. (Kim) of Camp Hill, PA and Rhonda K. Wright (Tom) of Fairport, NY; three grandsons, Michael Wright, Clifton Rice and Scott Wright and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Sister Jane Frances, Leo “Pete” Wright and Anna Theresa Kinietz.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Burial will take place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Broad Top City, PA Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Peter Brier and Dr. John Zornosa also Homeland Hospice especially Franchesca, Lindsay and Pam for the great care they gave Richard.
