Robert Ramsey Sr. Obituary

Robert Ronald Ramsey Sr., 86, of Homewood at Martinsburg, formerly of Saxton and Three Springs, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Homewood.
Born in Woodvale, PA. on December 23, 1932, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Opal F. (Fix) Ramsey Flasher.
On January 16, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Lucille (Drake) Ramsey at the First Baptist Church of Saltillo, PA.
He was a 1951 graduate of Saltillo High School then enlisted in the US Navy on October 9, 1951 until October 8, 1955. He then attended Lock Haven State Teachers College graduating in 1960 with a BS degree in Health and Physical Education.
His employment included General Motors from 1960 to 1964, then at Tussey Mountain High School from 1964 until his retirement in 1990. In addition to teaching health and physical education, he coached football, basketball, baseball, and track during his tenure at Tussey Mountain High School.
His married life began in Martinsburg, PA until 1964 when they moved to Saxton, PA where they lived for more than 30 years raising their family and enjoying their Saxton friends and community. Following retirement, with the help of talented friends and family, built a new home in Three Springs, PA where thery lived for many years before finally returning to Martinsburg to live in the Homewood Assisted Living Community.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved coaching, playing, and watching sports as well as his vegetable gardens and flower beds. He also enjoyed baking, cooking, and woodworking. For several years he served as a volunteer EMT with the Three Springs Ambulance Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Saltillo, PA and in more recent years attended the Robertsdale Church of God in Robertsdale, PA.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lori (Ramsey) Alexiou, wife of Philip, of Alexandria, VA, Susan (Ramsey) Fisenne, wife of Charles of Falls Church, VA, a son, Robert Ronald Ramsey Jr., husband of Mariann, of Jacksonville, NC., grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Fisenne, MaKenna Margarette Ramsey, Robert Thomas Ramsey, and sisters, Connie (Flasher) Robinson, wife of Charles of Greencastle, PA. and Deborah (Flasher) Whitsel, wife of Daniel, of Three Springs.
He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Janet (Ramsey) and husband John Thomas Hodges.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Robertsdale Church of God at 11 AM with Pastor James Thomas officiating.
Friends will be received on Wednesday February 6, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. Broad Top City, PA. and again on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that if so desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Homewood Foundation, P.O. Box 250, Williamsport, MD, 21795.
