Ronald Lynn "Bub" Diehl, 78, of Broad Top City, PA, formerly of Yoe, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA.
Born on January 11, 1946 in Huntingdon, PA, a son of the late Robert Blair and Margaret (Diggins) Diehl.
On December 31, 1967, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Trohanowsky) Diehl. Mrs. Diehl survives at their home in Broad Top City.
He was a 1965 graduate of Tussey Mt. High School where he was in the aviation club, and then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era 1965-1967, as a Staff Sergeant.
Following his military time he began working construction for H.J. Williams, then worked at Caterpillar for 30 years as a machinist until his retirement. Following his retirement he worked part time at Apple Ford in Red Lion, Beasley Ford in York as a parts runner, and lastly at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. as a funeral assistant. He also was on the Yoe Boro and Broad Top Cit Boro Councils.
His memberships included the American Legion in Broad Top City for 43 years, A lifetime member of the Greater Broad Top Area Sportsmans Assn., R.W.&BT Vol. Fire Co., was part of the organizing group for the Broad Top City Sesquicentennial in 2004, Robertsdale Church of God, and the UAW Local 786. His enjoyments included hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Along with his wife he is survived by a son, Michael Diehl, husband of Julie, of Red Lion, grandchildren, Jonathan Diehl, husband of Amanda, of Sitka, AK, Jennifer, wife of Tyler Howell, of Seven Valleys, great grandchildren, Lakelyn and Adaleigh Howell, Sister, Mary Gail Witmer of Dover, Brothers, Walter Diehl, husband of Diana, of Mechanicsburg, Donald Diehl, husband of Cindy, of York, Sister-In-Laws, Marybelle and Sharon Diehl, and an adopted brother, Donald Simmons.
Proceeding him in death were his parents, Sisters, Hazel Lavelle, and Maude Ann Briggs, Brothers, Burse, George, Guy, Charles, and Willard, Brother-In-Laws, Zane Lavelle, Sonny Briggs, Donnie Witmer, Sister-In-Laws, Marylen, and Shirley.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 1 PM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. Friends will be received from 11:30 until the start of the service at 1 PM. Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery Broad Top City with full military honors provided by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City, PA, R.W.&BT. Vol. Fire Co. or Ambulance Division, or the Broad Top City American Legion.
