Savannah Mae Matthews, 91, of Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehab Center in Clearfield, PA, formerly of Wood, PA.
Born in Wood, PA on July 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Earl Silas and Roxie Mendola (Spencer) Thomas.
On July 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard Paul Matthews who preceded her in death on August 29, 2012.
She is survived by son Richard Scott Matthews, husband of Janice, son Bruce Kent Matthews, husband of Debbie, daughter Susan Bolinger, wife of the late Dave Bolinger, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brothers, Earl “Bud”, Tom, Jim, and Dave Thomas, sisters, Gwendolyn Diehl, Nelda Meck, Eloise Moore, Judy Snavely, Helen Elder, Debbie Abbott.
She was a graduate of Robertsdale High School and later worked at Claudia Footwear in Wood, and Quality Manufacturing in Saxton.
She was a member of the Wood United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, was active with dinners there, and was active with the centennial celebration of the Church. She was always available to help at the Church no matter what was needed. She was well known on the Broad Top and around for her pie making abilities.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 11 AM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Suzanne Detterline officiating.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 AM-11 AM
Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City, Pa.
