Urban D. "Dean" Rourke, 89, of Petersburg, Va. passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
He was born in Wood, PA, on October 22, 1928, to the late Margaret (Black) and Albert Rourke.
On September 16, 1949 in Oakland California he married Carmella D. "Millie" Rourke, of Bayonne, New Jersey. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2002.
Dean graduated from Robertsdale High School, class of 1946.
Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Dianne and Albert Kenney, of Fayetteville, NC; Patricia and Doug McLaughlin, of Overland Park, KS; Debra and Rick Stoss, of Midlothian, Va. and a son, U. Dean Rourke Jr., of Petersburg, VA; a sister, Laura Wright, of Chambersburg, PA; five brothers, Dennis Rourke, of Broad Top City, PA; Gary Rourke, of Chambersburg, PA; Robert Rourke, of Massillon, OH; Homer Rourke, of James Creek, PA; Warren Rourke, of Saxton, PA; as well as 7 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother Palmer, sisters Mary, Orla, and Gwendolyn, brothers Delmar, and William.
He served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1977. During his military career, he traveled the world, sometimes having to leave his wife and children and often it kept him from his parents, siblings, and large extended family. But nothing was more important to Dean than coming home. His happiness and joy was evident when he attended family weddings, graduations, and reunions.
