Vera Leader Obituary
Vera J. Leader, 94, of the Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Cooks, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at the Village.
Born in Cookstown on November 20, 1925, a daughter of the late Elmer and Myrtle (Cromer) Flenner.
On August 14, 1942 in Winchester, VA. she was united in marriage to John Leader who preceded her in death in December of 1998.
She was a homemaker and had also worked at Claudia Footwear in Wood.
She had been a member of the Daughters of the Coalminers and was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed making rugs, crocheting, and doing artwork. She was a member of the Cooks Methodist Church where she was an active member.
Surviving are the following family members, Son John Leader, husband of Diane, daughter, Joan, wife of Ronnie “Jack” Reed, daughter, Judy, wife of Harry McGhee, son, Jeff Leader, husband of Sharon, sister, Ruth Lewis, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Annie Sheeder, Almeda Johnson, Helen Collare, brothers, Charles Horton, Ray Flenner, Bill Flenner, and Eugene Flenner.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11 AM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Broad Top City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the R.W. & BT. Vol Fire Co. P.O. Box 7, Robertsdale, PA. 16678. Or to the Huntingdon Co. Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA. 16652.
