Vickie Lashinsky Obituary

Vickie Ann (Rinehart) Lashinsky, 70, of Broad Top City, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.  In her final moments, she was surrounded by  prayer from loved ones and the presence of her family.

She was born on August 15, 1955 to the late Glenn and Martha (Jones) Rinehart.  On August 16, 1975, she married David Lashinsky. Their 50 year marriage was marked by a resilient partnership and a shared devotion to their family, staying committed to one another’s care through every season of life.

Vickie was a graduate from the 1973 class of Tussey Mountain High School. For several years, she and her sister, Patty, owned and operated Our Place Convenience Store, where they enjoyed serving and connecting with their neighbors. Vickie earned her LPN license in 1991 from the Juniata-Mifflin Counties Area Vocational-Technical School. Throughout her career, she provided dedicated care at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Homewood Retirement Center, and the Home Nursing Agency, where she specialized in pediatric home care.   In every role, including her years as a volunteer EMT with the RW&BT Fire Company, she was defined by her heart for service and gift for bringing peace to others in difficult situations.

Vickie was an active member of the Broad Top City Church of God, where she found great joy in planning the annual Hanging of the Greens at Christmastime.  For several years, she also volunteered her time as a nurse at Camp YoliJwa,  continuing her lifelong mission of caring for others.  Her heart for service also extended to her community through her involvement in the Broad Top City Park & Recreations, including her work with Suppers in the Park.  Known for her spaghetti sauce, steaks, nut rolls, and homemade jelly, Vickie was a woman of many talents who found fulfillment in providing to those around her.

Vickie’s memory will be fondly remembered by her husband, David, and their children, Nichole, wife of Sam Carberry, Trevor, husband of Erin Lashinsky, and Carrie, wife of Greg Strayer.  Vickie’s love extended to her grandchildren and their families: Brittney & Cody Greenawalt, Dalton & Cori Carberry, Kaitlyn Lashinsky, Austin Lashinsky, Lucas Strayer, Cooper Strayer, and Reagan Strayer.  Her joy continued through her great-grandchildren: Parker, Layne, Bentelee, Carsyn, and Kayde.  She is also survived by her sister and friend, Patty, wife of Tim Maslanik.  Beyond her immediate family, Vickie held a special place in her heart for her extended family, Jack and Connie Jones,  and several other close friends who meant so much to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Martha (Jones) Rinehart.

Friends and family will be received for a visitation on Sunday, March 29, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home in Broad Top City, with a funeral service taking place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, also at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Wilson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the RW&BT Ambulance Division or the Broad Top City Church of God.
