Ruth A. Reed, 81, of Saxton, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Homewood at Martinsburg.
Born in Saxton on March 14, 1938, a daughter of the late, Lester Owen and Arvada (Stevenson) Whitfield.
On March 28, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Reed in Winchester, VA. Mr. Reed preceded her in death on May 29, 2013.
She was a 1956 graduate of Saxton-Liberty High School. She then worked at the sewing factory in Saxton and then Seton Co. for over 20 years.
A member of the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren, she was involved in the Women’s Fellowship and the Quilting Club. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, BINGO, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and her dog, Molly.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Martin, wife of Chuck, of Six Mile Run, sons, Rick Reed, husband of Sue, Robert Reed, husband of Becki, and Kevin Reed all of Saxton. 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren as well as sisters, Gladys Roman of Saxton and Marion Ayers of Martinsburg also survive.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son Joey Reed and a brother, John Whitfield.
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. from 1-3 PM.
Funeral Services will take place at 3PM at the funeral home with Pastor Alan Baker officiating.
Interment will take place in the Grandview Cemetery, Saxton, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to assist them with final expenses.
